eBay requires UPS for shipments, what should I do?
Summary: val-cherche-pour-vous has restarted their selling activity on eBay but is running into problems with the shipping option choices, which differ from what is offered to buyers. Other participants, such as *miss-tigri* and frelonverre, advised them not to use eBay’s shipping platform and to choose a carrier directly. val-cherche-pour-vous expressed frustration about unexpected fees with UPS, despite choosing Mondial Relay. francexpressdeal identified a problem with the international shipping setup that could be causing UPS to be imposed and gave detailed instructions for checking and correcting the listing settings. In the end, the problem seems to have been resolved thanks to the advice shared, which is confirmed by a friendly exchange between the participants.
Hello everyone, I started selling on eBay again after 10 years off.
I've lost money because the selection options I make when creating my listing don't match what eBay actually offers buyers when they make a purchase.
Does anyone else have this problem?

·2 years agoHello,
If I were you, I would create a listing template by checking the available shipping options in your country. It takes a little longer to do, but it would keep you from making a mistake.
Plus, you have the option to preview your listing before publishing it online, so you can see exactly what buyers will see and it will let you fix anything that isn't right.

OP2 years agoThanks for your kind reply, I just did it, it helps indeed!
I suggest shipping to Belgium for €6, but when I check the listing with the preview, eBay puts it at €10, I'm going crazy

in the screenshot I sent you, shipping to Belgium is indeed 6 euros though.
To the right of "change country", are you sure you're on Belgium?
val-cherche-pour-vous
OP2 years agoOh but thank you!
your screen doesn't match my preview when I finalize my listing, that's crazy..
thank you very much!
val-cherche-pour-vous
OP2 years agoI modified my listing based on what you showed me on your screen, it should be fine normally, I excluded certain countries, fingers crossed!

Here’s what you can get by using the standard form
the account was logged in Belgium.
it's an example with different carriers and destinations
the rate was not entered
best regards

OP2 years agoThanks a lot for trying to help me!
This is what I see when I create my listing, I fill it out as best I can, but apparently ebay doesn't respect what I ask for, I don't understand where I'm going wrong! Normally, the only listing I put back online to test should be correct! even if I had to delete a bunch of countries because I can't get a table that adjusts itself..
You're really great for replying to me!

The best thing is to contact Ebay Belgium customer service.

OP2 years agoThanks for your reply, but then I don't understand! I tick Mondial Relay and La Poste, but no.. 2 sales and 2 x UPS at exorbitant prices!

@val-cherche-pour-vous
If the sales are to be shipped outside Belgium.
It is normal for UPS to be selected on the eBay platform, you only offer this carrier in your listings

OP2 years agoHello, thanks for your reply, but actually no, I checked Mondial Relay and La Poste, it’s eBay that’s putting UPS for me, argghh

·2 years agoHello @val-cherche-pour-vous
for your shipments to Belgium, everything seems fine (in line with your choices):
However, there is a problem for your shipments outside Belgium. Because not only do you have UPS, but above all you have the same rate whether the shipment is within the EU or outside the EU. (To be checked against Bpost rates, but that seems odd to me)
If it were a bug, you would have UPS everywhere, but that’s not the case here.
I think the problem simply comes from incorrect settings for deliveries outside Belgium.

OP2 years agoThank you so much! The site has changed a ton, I'm tearing my hair out over the settings!
And I can't find any help on ebay..

Did you check what I was saying in my 15:06 post:

OP2 years agoI don't see it at the time of writing the announcement, but I am indeed on the Belgian site

Currently, on your listing there is indeed: Bpost, mondial relay and hand delivery, but that only applies to national shipping (Belgium)
For international, there is only Ups (and moreover, no price distinction between a shipment to the EU or to Japan, USA, which are +/- 3x more expensive)
if you cannot modify the international postage fees in the listing.
You have to use the standard sales form

And for international

eBay doesn't require any specific carrier, you don't have to ship via eBay
val-cherche-pour-vous
OP2 years agoHello, how do you do it to send independently of eBay?
*miss-tigri*
·2 years agoHello
You don't have to go through eBay's shipping platform ...
Choose your carrier and go directly to their site ..
