Electronic invoicing and business purchases on eBay!
Summary: re-composant wants eBay France to improve the sharing of tax information for business buyers, such as the intra-community VAT number and SIRET, during checkout to simplify compliant invoicing. With the arrival of mandatory electronic invoicing, this data will become crucial. re-composant emphasizes how important it is to be able to easily access this information given the commissions charged by the platform. lingma85 then asks for clarification about re-composant's status, and re-composant replies that they are a self-employed entrepreneur.
Hello,
I want to alert eBay France about the lack of information provided when purchases are made by business buyers on the platform.
When a buyer registered with a business account places an order in my store, neither their intra-community VAT number nor their SIRET number is automatically passed on to me.
Once the buyer is registered as a business on eBay, it is especially burdensome to have to systematically ask them for their business details in order to issue a compliant invoice.
Moreover, with the gradual rollout of e-invoicing, this information is going to become essential.
It would therefore be necessary for eBay to quickly put in place automatic transmission of the legal and tax information of business buyers to the relevant sellers.
Given the fees charged by the platform on each of our sales, it is only reasonable to expect eBay to provide business sellers with the tools they need to properly meet their administrative and tax obligations.
Charging significant commissions is one thing, but the platform must also make sellers' work easier and allow them to carry out their business under good conditions.

OP1 month agoHello, self-employed person. Yes, I know that sending electronic invoices will only be effective starting in September 2027.
That said, even without talking about electronic invoicing, it is necessary for us as professionals to issue invoices to other professionals in France, and especially when they are registered as such on the platform.
The regulations are as follows: intra-EU VAT number required on invoices. So it makes perfect sense to have this information when placing orders.

you say: "the regulation is this: intra VAT number required on invoices."
Could you tell us which law text mentions this obligation?
