Invoice at the VAT rate of the customer's country
Summary: ouikeep is trying to apply the correct VAT rate for sales to Germany on eBay, but is running into difficulties with the settings. Anonymous User suggests asking the accountant, but ouikeep wants to know whether eBay can handle this directly. jokeriders_stuntparts shares similar frustrations about VAT settings on eBay and says they are waiting for solutions. Another comment mentions that a seller in Germany, Anonymous User, has often provided explanations about local regulations. The discussion revolves around VAT rules and technical difficulties with eBay.
Hello,
We sell automotive parts on our E-commerce site.
For individual customers:
- if the customer is in France, I issue an invoice with 20% VAT;
- if the customer is in Germany (the goods leave France), I have to issue an invoice with 19% VAT
The accountant then files a specific VAT return for European sales.
I’m stuck when I sell to a German individual customer on EBAY, the VAT rate applied is 20%.
Is this a setting I missed in my EBAY config, or have I misunderstood the re-invoicing system with EBAY? (I issue an invoice to Ebay and not to the end customer)
Thanks in advance for your help,
Alexandre

·2 years agojackpoteuro is talking nonsense!!! another one who's bored ...
in short, I'm also trying to set up the configuration on EBay, even Ebay can't understand the question, it's crazy!!!
I tried not filling in the VAT field in the product sheets, thinking it should override Ebay's automatic VAT calculation, but actually no, all the invoices are now at 0%, so there is no automatic ebay calculation.... anyway I'm waiting for their reply ... if I manage it, I'll say it here 🙂

The single VAT threshold
The application of VAT following the sale of a good depends on the seller's turnover over one year.
Since July 1, 2021, a single turnover threshold has been defined for the entire European Union, as explained in the European Commission article VAT on e-commerce. This threshold is 10,000 euros. Below this threshold, VAT must be paid and declared in the member state where the seller of a product is located. If the 10,000-euro threshold is exceeded, VAT must be paid and declared in the member state where the buyer is located.

OP2 years agoHello,
Well, that’s exactly it — I don’t have the answer. I’d like to invoice private customers in Germany at 19% with 19% VAT. Is that possible with EBAY?

OP2 years agoNo, I have nothing to ask my accountant; that’s the rule we follow (like all e-commerce sellers in France).
I’m just wondering whether this setting is possible in EBAY
