Shipping fees
I’ve been selling on eBay for a year now and I’m noticing that shipping costs are extremely high.
Are there cheaper shipping options / negotiated rates? Because some sellers offer free shipping, even though the delivery cost alone would completely eat into their margin.

That said, indeed some sellers with few sales got caught out recently by selling at a loss following the increase in carrier rates, etc.

there is already a preferential rate between Ebay and Mondial Relay.
Otherwise, check with La Poste Pro about contracts with Colissimo.

You yourself offer free shipping for your items.
So, are you asking for yourself or regarding the shipping fees you see from other sellers?

OP2 years agoI’m asking because I’m wondering how some sellers can be profitable by offering such low prices with free shipping, given that shipping costs alone for the seller represent more than half the sale price.
Personally, I offer free shipping, but my margin is greatly reduced because of the shipping costs I pay to La Poste. I can’t raise my price too much either, at the risk of no longer being competitive.
Do these sellers negotiate rates with La Poste?

often free delivery is done by Mondial Relay, much cheaper than La Poste for low-weight shipments ..

are you wondering how sellers who offer free shipping do it when that’s your case?
You're the best placed to know how you go about offering free shipping on items under 5 euros, aren’t you?
Generally, sellers who can afford free shipping costs for such cheap items are simply doing dropshipping. But since you say your items are in France, that’s not your case ...
So it’s up to you to negotiate with your carriers.

OP2 years agoYes, as I mentioned to you, delivery costs eat up almost all my margin! So I imagine that’s not the case for the other sellers, who must be making more attractive margins.
And if I want to stay competitive, I have no choice but not to raise my prices too much.
