I'm having trouble increasing traffic to my articles
Summary: thepearhouse is looking for advice on how to improve sales of antique and vintage jewelry on eBay, noting that individual pieces remain unsold despite efforts to adjust prices and sales strategies. One participant suggests there may be an issue with the volume and variety of items offered. koalagris reminds them of the need to be registered as a professional seller to buy and resell, while thepearhouse explains that this is more of a passion project than a formal business. Anonymous User suggests using auctions to attract customers while increasing the stock of Buy It Now items.
Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice as I struggle.
I have been selling for about a year, selling antique and vintage jewelry. I have done my best to keep up with the demand (some brands, amber pieces sell, but silver doesn't unless it's special, the older the better etc) but I don't seem to be making much progress.
My last method was to buy higher quality/higher value items to capture a larger collector market, but the two pieces I have now have done nothing to improve views/sales.
I usually have something to list every week.
My lots sell fairly well and quickly through auctions, but individual items sit for a long time. I try to price competitively, but I have to admit I tend to be above average.
One method that seemed to work for a similar seller who lives locally to me was to make the starting price .99, so I tried that with two good items and it failed. 1 didn't sell, no views, the other sold for 99 cents.
Promoting articles makes (literally) zero difference. I get 1 view as opposed to zero.
I have 100% feedback.
I usually have a buyer from France and the EU.
These last two months have been the worst so far with some items getting zero views, despite similar sales recently for good prices. I know the seasons cause traffic fluctuations, but this has been happening since about March. I really don't know what to do next. Should I bundle my items for a while?
Thanks for watching.

·1 year agoHello,
In my opinion, this merchandise is Buy It Now.
Use auction as a loss leader, and meanwhile grow the stock in Buy It Now. The auction carryover (2) to Buy It Now (for 20) is without evasion because the merchandise is in the same category.
A lot is always placed in auction.
Being all in auctions exhausts the loss leader, and is therefore without carryover.
Your evasion rate grows, without you seeing it.
Disadvantage, very competitive.

OP2 years agoI started selling on ebay for a few reasons. It was an excuse to keep buying jewelry I found so that if I decided I didn’t want it, I could sell it. It was also a way to research the market and collectibility of various styles and ages of jewelry. Then as now, I don’t sell enough to really classify it as a business, although the shop is listed as part of my registered business in France. I’ll look into the matter and switch to a business account if necessary. Thanks for reminding me.

·2 years agoHello @thepearhouse
There is no miracle recipe, so there is no turnkey solution I can offer you.
However, I note:
"My latest method has been to buy higher-quality / higher-value items to appeal to a larger market of collectors" = you are registered on the site as a private seller.
Buying to resell is a commercial activity that requires you to be registered as a professional.
Exposing yourself like that on the forum is, in my opinion, not a good idea...
Kind regards

·2 years agohi ,
no doubt you'll see similar threads , seller central ebay uk ...
there's no miracle, you have a problem that could be avoided ... if you were a Chinese person selling junk. otherwise I don't know what to advise you, apart from having a very large number of different items here ... but that may not change anything at all.
