Buyer dispute
Summary: orangeb77 shares his negative experience as a seller on eBay, citing frequent problems with buyers retracting their bids or not paying for purchases, as well as disputes related to international shipping. He says he lost €200 when eBay refunded a buyer even though the package was eventually received. plasreparema supports this point, sharing his own scam experience and the lack of protection for sellers. frelonverre suggests avoiding distant destinations to reduce problems.
Lots of fees and, above all, tons of problems with buyers.
Buyers retracting their bids to see the previous buyer’s maximum price
Or else I buy and never pay for my purchase, so you end up with an item cooked for resale.
But the most annoying thing is the buyer located outside the EEC who opens a dispute for an item they haven’t received yet, eBay refunds them, and then the package finally arrives.
And so the buyer has received the item and has been refunded, but as for me, as the seller, I no longer have the item and eBay has taken the money back from my account (€200)
Even if eBay followed the procedures (I’m not responsible for the extremely long shipping times for packages to Australia)
It is not normal that I should be the one who loses out.
eBay’s response after 3 calls to open a dispute: we followed the procedures, the buyer is right.
You need to take this up directly with them
A supervisor was supposed to call me back within 24h but no call.
I’m not even talking, as a seller, about the inevitably positive feedback that can be left for dishonest buyers.
After 5 years I’m leaving eBay and apparently I’m not the only one in my case.

·2 years agono, I confirm it, I've been registered on eBay since 2008. Right now it's a free-for-all for scammers of all kinds. I'm even the victim of a buyer who scammed me out of €300. I had hidden an airtag in the package. I could prove to the authorities that the buyer did indeed receive the package. But too much hassle for little gain in the end.
Ebay favors scammers but offers no security coverage for sellers.
I'm also planning to close my account

it's simpler not to sell to faraway destinations
