Item marked as delivered but not received
Summary: hemostasie sold an item to an Italian buyer for 900 euros, sent via the post office with insurance and signature upon delivery. Tracking shows that the parcel was delivered, but the buyer claims not to have received anything. felin12 advises checking whether a delivery receipt was obtained and opening a claim with the post office. telemaque16 shares similar experiences with Italy, highlighting the frequent difficulties and suggesting possibly contacting the Italian authorities. Later, hemostasie discovers that the parcel was still in a warehouse, and the buyer claims not to have received a delivery notice. francois-o points out that the buyer is at fault if they did not pick up the parcel, and recommends contacting eBay customer service to see what protection options are available.
Sorry if my question has already been dealt with in a similar post.
I sold an item for 900 euros to an Italian, and I sent it by post asking for insurance and signature on delivery. After a week with no news since the package entered Italy, I asked the post office, which didn’t even know which carrier was handling the package in Italy...
After searching online I found my parcel handled by DPD and marked...delivered.
The buyer tells me he received nothing.
In a case like this, will the buyer be refunded, or will it be me thanks to my proof of shipment?
I don’t even know if the buyer is telling the truth or if DPD stole my parcel 😞

Hello @hemostasie ,
I'm sorry to read that you're having a bad experience with a buyer on eBay.
If the buyer opens a dispute for an item not received, then the tracking serves as your proof. If the buyer did not go to pick up the parcel, then it is their fault.
I invite you to contact customer service in order to get more information about the details of your order and how to appeal to seller protection.
To do this, go to the bottom of our help page and click on => Contact us.
Choose the option that suits you best and an agent will call you 🙂.

·3 years agoGood evening,
Alas, Italy is a special case... My parcels generally arrive without any problems to the back of beyond in Alaska, Vietnam, Tunisia, Mauritius, etc. But Italy is almost worse than France...
Even with Colissimo delivery with signature, the Italian buyer will often try their luck by saying they received nothing. It's cultural (NB: on another site I won't name, a favorable response is automatically given to the customer). Once, for a package of 10 items, the Italian buyer claimed that the package only contained 5... Personally, I've never won against Italy: the Italian buyer has always been refunded and too bad for me.
In general, from the north of Italy down to Rome, buyers behave according to Western norms. South of Rome, trouble is often guaranteed starting at €10.
The only (meager!) solution: report the incident to the Italian carabinieri. They have a website where you can file a complaint. The site is in Italian, I used it once, never got a reply.
Another solution: hire an Italian lawyer. Unrealistic for such small amounts, with an end result that is more than uncertain.
In short, it's Italy... Which nevertheless remains such a beautiful country to visit.
Good luck.

·3 years agoHello
I’ve read your exchanges about a parcel in Italy. I have exactly the same problem. A parcel sent by Colissimo through the post office in Italy and the buyer claims to have received nothing. It’s an absolute nervous breakdown and a real nightmare facing the total incompetence of the post office. For 8 days now, I’ve been fighting by calling the post office’s 3631 every day, going there in person, etc., and they give me all sorts of contradictory answers without telling me where the parcel is. The buyer is not cooperating at all, even though I reached out with numbers to contact, it’s pathetic. He just keeps complaining and doesn’t take any steps.
Ebay in Italy is asking me for proof of shipment with the recipient’s address, unfortunately the label went with the parcel (I didn’t take a photo) and my only proof of posting only shows the tracking number and the shipping date. After going back and forth, the post office agent gave me a screenshot as proof, which ebay Italy rejects! So not only do I not get my parcel back, which may have been stolen, but on top of that I will probably be forced to refund this buyer, it’s ridiculous. The post office just tells me they take 40 days to process claims, while ebay only gives a few days to explain yourself!!

@hemostasie
Proof of dispatch may not be enough; above the amount of 550 euros, you need proof of receipt. Do you have that?
Try filing a claim with the post office, making it clear that the recipient says they received nothing.
As for the outcome of the dispute, Ebay will keep you informed

·3 years agoHello
@hemostasie
It is proof (in addition to the signature) that informs you that the parcel has indeed been delivered to the recipient

Check with the post office whether your shipment includes a return receipt.
On the invoice details, you should be able to find out whether you paid for this service.
best regards
