FOR NEWCOMERS TO EBAY
Summary: djoud25 advises new sellers on eBay to read the terms and conditions carefully, because the system can favor buyers, even dishonest ones. jacquelinedu36 and frelonverre share negative experiences with buyers from certain countries, although djoud25 warns against generalizations. aurea-france finds Italians to be reliable customers, unlike Spaniards. 0_fil_du_temps* and lingma85 mention progress on eBay in terms of dispute support, but adan10_1 expresses frustration with the current system. In general, advice is exchanged on best practices for avoiding problems.
Before you start selling on ebay, read the terms of sale carefully, because if you end up dealing with a dishonest buyer, you should know that it will be almost impossible to win your case.
For older profiles, know that your reputation won鈥檛 count for much in the balance when the decision is made, because the system is automated and, after a dispute is opened, it instructs you to accept the return request within 5 days.
So be very careful before getting into selling on ebay, because you could get some very bad surprises.

路2 years agoHello
I came across a really nasty buyer. As explained in my reply above. Despite her rules, I let her buy my item. She pays and asks me to wait 10 days before shipping it to her.
I ask the community for advice, and they urge me to ship my parcel within 2 days as stated. Luckily, I follow the advice and explain it to my customer... The parcel is dropped off at a pickup point, and I notify the buyer by giving her the tracking number.
The parcel is sent on 12/02 and after it was handed over to the courier, no more news. I contact MR and file a complaint. I let the buyer know.
She opens a dispute for item not received. Ebay closes the dispute in my favor and refunds the buyer. Who this morning leaves me a negative review for "parcel not received, lost from the start".
I ask for this undeserved review to be removed by sending proof and parcel tracking. The review is removed by ebay.
By following the MR delivery, I realize that the parcel has been waiting to be picked up since 20/02. My buyer was notified by text and email according to the pickup point. A trick to have your cake and eat it too? Get refunded, open a dispute, leave a negative review. And then go pick up your parcel at the pickup point?
Really....
In any case, ebay helped me counter the buyer's bad faith. So I still maintain that ebay helps buyers but also sellers.

路2 years agoThat's right, I'm paying the price for it right now, Ebay has changed a lot and not for the better unfortunately
La poste delivered 4 parcels late, Ebay removed Top Reliability from me and marked insufficient service..I'm not La poste, after all. The disputes service has become lousy and doesn't listen to the seller !!!!!!!!!!

路2 years agoHello聽@adan10_1聽
聽
As for delivery times.... there needs to be a bit of logic in the information...
- you indicate----> "free delivery in 3 days...."
BUT
in the delivery section, we can read----->聽
- shipping time--> "Sent within 2 business days after payment is received."
聽
also, if you go on the Colissimo website (your carrier)... we can read --->
"48h, i.e. 2 working days: for mainland France and Monaco as well as within overseas France"
What are the Colissimo delivery times? - Laposte.fr online help
聽
All of that already makes 4 working days....
聽
Your buyers rely only on the 3 days shown in green on the listings...
- you're knowingly putting yourselves at risk by ignoring weekends and the unexpected things that can happen...
Competing to see who can do better than the next guy also causes incidents that you end up suffering from (and that make you come complain here)
聽
It would be wise to give yourselves a little more delivery time to protect against the bots that penalize you -
Protect yourselves a little more...聽
聽
Kind regards

路2 years agoThe post office is no longer reliable, and parcel drop-off points even less so. Only Colissimo shipments still seem to be delivered on time. It鈥檚 a real problem for sellers.
From experience, always ship your parcels within the timeframe you indicated in your listings, it鈥檚 important. And keep your buyers informed of the tracking results, they may be understanding. As for me, I鈥檓 very satisfied with the disputes service and they listened to me. I provided all the evidence.

路2 years agoHello
That鈥檚 false. I鈥檓 an old profile but I鈥檝e been absent from sales for several years. I had a problem with a bad-faith buyer and ebay closed the dispute in my favor. The fact that in 20 years on ebay I have never received any negatives from a buyer may have played a role?聽 I spoke on the phone with an ebay agent who really understood what I was trying to do and helped me a lot.
Contacting an ebay agent in case of difficulty used to be impossible before; that鈥檚 no longer the case, and it鈥檚 a big improvement.

路2 years agoAll of this is a bit nauseating, there are scammers everywhere, and a lot of them operate on EB, which makes their job a lot easier聽馃槇

what鈥檚 all this for, to end up with what?
the new sellers who come here are already in trouble
the old ones have known for a long time what it鈥檚 all about

OP2 years agoI cannot agree with your remarks because broad generalizations are dangerous. Dishonest people do not have a specific nationality. They exist everywhere.....

except that there are toxic destinations and Italy is one of them

OP2 years agoSo we should remove eBay Italy, right?

路2 years ago@djoud25聽
all you need to do is set up your account to prevent buyers from countries where we don't deliver from buying
aurea-france
路2 years agoAh no, I stopped selling to Spaniards; Italians remain my favorite customers, zero problems with them and the Italian post is much more efficient and faster than the Spanish post.

路2 years agoYou should know that private mailboxes in Spain are tiny and can't receive parcels or even thick letters, so everything is put on hold at the post office without notice for letters. So I systematically send a message to explain it: it works!聽
