In-person handoff and choice of payment method
Summary: 123.videmaison wonders about the preferable payment method for an in-person handover on Ebay, hesitating between online payment and cash, noting that cash payment allows the buyer to see the item before finalizing the transaction. felin12 responds by pointing out that online payments generally ensure that the buyer will show up to collect the item, unlike verbal commitments that can be less reliable.
Hello,
Â
for an in-person handover I have the choice between an online payment with all the payment options offered by Ebay or asking for cash payment upon collection.
In principle, cash payment seems interesting to me for the buyer, who can thus see the item before finalizing the transaction.
However, I read on the forum messages where sellers prefer online payment.
Do you have an opinion on the subject? What are the advantages / disadvantages of the 2 options?

Thanks for your feedback 🙂

Someone who has paid online will tend to honor their appointment, unlike someone who has not yet paid and who will come up with every imaginable excuse not to come and pick up their purchase.
For an in-person sale, it's: put it aside for me or I'll come back later and you wait for me: 1 hour, 1 day, 1 year, 10 years.
