Violation of a regulation on minors
Summary: golffinger_fr expresses dissatisfaction after their David Hamilton postcards were removed from eBay, citing a violation of the rules concerning minors and complaining about being treated unevenly compared with other sellers. koalagris suggests that golffinger_fr’s account may have been flagged and advises against relisting the items to avoid an account suspension. lingma85 advises contacting customer support for more clarity. The discussion broadens to censorship and the possible reasons for the removal, including the photographer’s reputation. golffinger_fr refers to an unresolved report of a similar listing to theirs and is considering trying to sell them again despite the warnings.
hello my david hamilton postcards were removed a 1st time from sale; for continuation of violating a rule on minors okay then a 2nd time after blurring them can you understand that? and on many other sellers they offer the same cards that are not removed? and other listings even more subjective photo cards and others are still for sale ;(

OP2 years agowell, I reported to ebay a listing identical to mine with the same postcard! for which I had filed a complaint! left unanswered!
ebay's response to my report :
" What happened?
We reviewed your report and concluded that the listing did not violate our policy. This decision was made by a Customer Service agent.
Here are the listings you reported that are affected by this decision : Item: 175705813476 Carte Postale DAVID HAMILTON Postcard Femme Woman Fauteuil "
so there you have it, maybe it's not the photographer who's at fault! 🙂
so I'm going to put my listing back up and see if I can report myself just to see! :)))

"so I’m going to relist my ad" = at your own risk, because insisting can lead to a permanent account suspension... but it’s up to you...

OP2 years agoeven if censorship applies to the images or the photographer, there have been dozens sold, including mine as well, and there are still some left; so let censorship be the same for everyone, but the photographer lead isn't stupid 😉 because there are many other ads that are much more suggestive than these art photos 🙂 !!

OP2 years agothanks for your replies , I think he has software for face detection and more, which is a bit sluggish because on some of them they are downright adults, slightly undressed or not!! 🙂

·2 years agoI fear there are rampant conflations and lightning-fast cen.sorship that are becoming a bit too pervasive everywhere and ruining life for us...
IF this keeps up... Rahaël will have to clothe his little angels who spend their time naked (they could give bad ideas to the uninitiated...)... !!!

·2 years agoHello @golffinger_fr @lingma85 and @koalagris
I think the problem doesn’t come from the images but from the photographer. (Take a look at Wikipedia, you’ll understand) He must be on a list that the robot didn’t like, regardless of the images posted online (I haven’t seen them, so I can’t judge). Best regards.

·2 years agoGood evening @nareio
I know the work of this photographer who had his moment of glory...
then I learned from the yellow press (tabloids) that his personal life was less glorious...
That didn't make me hate or renounce the work he did or the beauty of his photos.... I'm not that black-and-white...
That's why I find it very outrageous (or even downright ugly..) to lump together art and the individual (him and other artists) who managed to create something beautiful..... and who will then be disowned because of bad behavior that will later lead him to suicide in H......'s case
We mustn't forget that robots are created by humans... who have themselves become a bit like robots through conditioning... Mimicry also lies in software... (to be read with an open mind and a sense of humor...)
Have a good evening..

·2 years agoWait @lingma85 ! What I wanted to point out is that the (possible) cause of the image rejection seems to me to lie outside the images themselves, since they are both rejected once blurred and accepted as they are on other accounts (so it’s not due to technological recognition as @golffinger_fr suggests ) It comes from something else, and it’s interesting to know how it works. Just as I’m interested in knowing why I sometimes “stumble” upon very inappropriate objects when I’m looking with children for toys or children’s books. A matter of vocabulary, obviously,...but not for everyone. And not for robots.....A problem that could be fixed by rethinking certain elements of the software.......
But the problem you raise is something else. And I agree on that point: it’s not because Caravaggio was a crook😀 that humanity should be denied the splendor of chiaroscuro....and the possibility of being Courbet in front of The Origin of the World...(woof woof ...another one the robots won’t get.....)

"Just as I’m interested in knowing why, when I’m looking with children for toys or children’s books, I sometimes come across very inappropriate objects ."
Oops... this is a subject that’s better brought up out loud and calmly in an armchair ... than here in front of a screen, and one that risks not being understood/grasped by everyone....
As for Courbet... he too had his “dark” period...
Have a good evening..
Best regards

·2 years agoOn that, I agree too: it’s a societal problem that goes beyond the forum.
That said, it puts me in a bad mood when I’m with my kids getting ready for a party and I see things pop up that have nothing to do with teddy bears and pretty dolls. When I was a kid, flipping through the Doudoute or Manumanulafrance catalog with my mom was part of the anticipation of Christmas, New Year’s, or birthdays..... And, on top of that, it told my parents what would really make me happy....
And that, it seems to me, belongs here...
Have a good day ....

·2 years agoHello @golffinger_fr
Possible that you may have been reported...
As for the other sellers, I guess their turn will come.
In any case, it's better not to relist on eBay, if you want to keep your account in good standing.
Best regards
