what information for buyers between private seller and professional for sales fees as of September 1, 2026
Regarding the removal of seller fees for private individuals starting September 1, 2026, will there be a display to distinguish the price between a private seller and a professional seller, and will the price shown by the private seller include the various fees for buyers? If not, what information will be given to buyers so they are aware of this change and of the fact that there are no fees with professional sellers?

there will be no distinction between professionals and private sellers since the pros will also have buyer protection included in the price of their item :
Buyer Protection fees | eBay
"Are professional sellers' listings covered by Buyer Protection ?
Yes, Buyer Protection applies to purchases made from professional sellers on ebay.it/ebay.fr at no extra cost."

OP1 month agothanks, I had noted this information but I'm talking about the selling finalization fees and not just buyer protection. My question was more about "how will the buyer know that there are no fees with a pro seller" especially for new sign-ups. I'll give an example: the private seller shows 48 euros, the pro 50 euros; the buyer will probably go for the lowest "displayed" price without knowing that they would have gotten a better price when finalizing the purchase with the pro, without the fees

sorry, but I don't understand your example.
If the displayed price is 48 euros from the private seller and 50 euros from the professional seller, it will be the same when the purchase is completed.

OPAug 11, 2026 at 8:24 AMit would have been interesting if eBay had shown a concrete before/after example and what that changes for everyone

"are end-of-sale fees properly transferred to the buyer?"
No.
After September 1st:
For private sellers, the fees "disappear" (except for international fees and any optional fees) and their prices will be increased by the amount of buyer protection.
For pro sellers, the fees stay the same, the prices will not change and will now include buyer protection.
After September 1st, whether it's a private seller or a pro seller, all displayed prices will include buyer protection. And when the purchase is finalized, buyers will indeed pay the price they saw.

OPAug 11, 2026 at 10:21 AMok thanks, so to stay competitive on eBay compared to a private seller after September 1st I still have to cut my prices by between 4 and 7% depending on the bracket and I'm not even counting URSSAF + shop fees + other business expenses. It's becoming less and less interesting to sell on eBay (costs going up, visibility almost nonexistent compared to LBC and vted. I don't understand their policy. I have been a seller on eBay since the beginning, right after the takeover of ibazar, I have seen all the changes, but I think this latest change will no longer make eBay my main sales platform. I'm giving myself until the end of the year...

As a pro, we have expenses that private individuals don't have, that's for sure. In fact, for quite a long time now, for similar items they can have lower prices than us.
The site changes coming in September won't really change much about this issue.

·3 weeks agoI also sell on vted, the worst platform of all (except for clothes) visibility is fleeting, impossible to find an item quickly. For fees, buyers can see very clearly the fees to be added (well displayed on the page) bottom line: they almost all ask for a discount on the sale price, that's the custom in selling second-hand clothes, so they apply it to new items: exhausting, and when the seller accepts the discount, 1 buyer out of 10 follows through unlike on ebay. In addition, if ebay sets fixed fees + a percentage similar to vted and lbc, in the end, for small sales this ends up being more than the current commission, so ebay's real goal is to drive sale prices down, while still taking the same amount of fees thanks to the fixed part.
ps: on vinted, sellers sell stuff for 1 euro! and vted makes just as much off exploiting cheap labor!

·3 weeks agothanks for your message, which shows I'm not the only one feeling this way... I pay more than 30% between eBay fees and URSAAF, I have return obligations, I can't leave negative feedback for scammers and now customer service is handled by AI and is super slow, and on September 1st I'll have a gap of more than 30% compared to private sellers... what advantage is left?
