what is this import charge when I want to buy an item from the US wen I live in EU?

I am about to buy an item from the US, I live in EU and there is an import charge beside the normal shipping charge.

the law is clear on that matter the good are to be taxed according the law in place by the country where the good is entering the EU. So that can change from one EU country to the other + why am I paying eBay for a charge when if I am liable for import taxes in my country for that item which is based on the value, I would have to pay  them anyway so that is double charges to me.

I really don't get it and I surely don't want to pay 2 import taxes... Anyone any idea what this is???

btw I contacted the seller who didn't know either she said it was preselected when she listed the item. So it seems it is compulsory charge when selling abroad?

Thx, G

hello,

It's

the Global Shipping Program

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/shipping-globally.html

if you do not want this program ,one should not buy without reading the announcement….Because after it is too late ! the taxes are due.

If it is before the purchase look for another seller who does not use G S P.
